This has been a tense week for many destination brides who have weddings this weekend or next week in the Caribbean with Dean crashing through the Caribbean leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

This has me thinking that another advantage of working with a destination coordinator is they can help to select the best time of year weather wise for your wedding and help your guests to protect thier investment in their vacation to your wedding.

One of the first things I ask a couple when they tell me they have selected a summer date for their wedding is whether they are  aware they are planning a wedding during hurricane season.  Many couples are unaware that hurricane season is long running from June through December, traditionally the most active time tends to be toward the end of July and August and seems to quiet down by early November.  The reality is that the hurricane season does run the full 6 months and there is no assurance that you won't have a bad storm other times of the year.  Mother nature is not very predictable.  

What should you do if you have your heart set on a date that falls within that time frame? Actually if you are willing to take the chance you find some of the best deals in travel during the fall and into early December this is the low season in part because of the weather concerns and in part because of children going back to school.  Travel insurance may be just the thing to avoid stress of losing out on your day in the sun and losing the money that you and your guests have laid out for your tropical wedding.. with a lot of the new travel policies they allow you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours prior to travel.. So had you heard an unwanted guest like Dean is coming to crash your wedding you could advise all of your guests that you will be postponing the big day and feel confident knowing everyones investment will be protected all they will lose is the insurance premium they paid and an awesome time at your wedding.... No worries with insurance it can be a reality again easily soon.
