In keeping with my theme of ways to save money on your destination wedding, decided I had to share this story:

More is not always more and less is not always less expensive.

I am planning a wedding for a couple who will be getting married at a very upscale all inclusive resort.  This particular property is actually wonderful to work with when I have clients who are looking to micro manage all of the details of their wedding and customize everything.   The couple  I am working with are wonderful and actually, while looking to have a fabulous wedding, were looking to keep things simple but chic.    So we went through all of our options and came up with something very simple and very chic but it was chic in its simplicity and clean lines.   When we saw the quote for the simple wedding, I was honestly shocked, the couples simple vision was going to cost a great deal of extra money.    So we decided that we would ask to see a photo of the package if we did not add on any optional items and if we did not go for our ultra simple look.    In the end, we were delighted to see that the decorations included, were nicer than any we could have conceived.  

Moral of the story.. a great way to save money on your destination wedding, work with what is included, do not forget that this will be the first time most of your guests will have had an experience like this or stayed at the resort you have selected the memory of good times with friends and family is the nicest extra you can add to your wedding package sometimes!
